Our Story & Our Mission
As the founder of Sustaining Arts, I started with a seed of an idea, loving the
connection of sustainability and art. Salma, Sara and Usha have joined me to share our passion for making art and dedicating ourselves to sustaining our own lives through creativity and helping to sustain others with art that inspires health, joy and healing.
In light of the many challenges we face, from natural disasters to the daily toils of many, Sustaining Arts values justice and fair, inclusive practices. When you interact with Sustaining Arts, you are buying artwork that sustains you, and you are also contributing a percentage of the retail price of our artwork to help sustain those who, through Habitat for Humanity, receive home repair and housing.
As an online artist and gallerist, I promote all of our artists equally, and I assume the role of gallerist in a unique way. Because I enjoy a wonderful lifestyle due to my family's generosity, I have chosen to collect only 15% of the sales of the other artists featured on this website while keeping our pricing on par with other galleries of similar quality. This is why a good percentage of your payment for art is given to Habitat for Humanity, East Bay, Silicon Valley, Inc. Thank you for helping to make this possible.
